Building a Dam

While we were on the look out for wild animals- we stopped to see this big construction project. This is at the bottom of a valley and currently has a tiny spring that runs in the bottom off it. This spring happens to be most of Marsabits drinking water. The dam is going in to increase the water supply by catching the water from the spring and from the twice a year rain.

Here you can see how massive this project is for doing most of it by hand and a small cement mixer! This is coming off the hill next to the dam where the gravel is supplyed for the cement

These are for carrying gravel and other material
